Over 35 years ago, we started Leech & Partners to bring Canterbury farmers and agribusiness owners the accounting expertise they need. Now, we’ve expanded to help clients nationwide with commercial accounting, business advisory, bookkeeping, future planning and more.

Our Story

Established in 1986 in Ashburton by Gary Leech, Leech & Partners began as a boutique independent Canterbury-based accounting practice with a speciality in agribusiness accounting. It wasn’t long before Neil Donaldson, who is still with us today, and Philip McDonald joined the team.

Our team grew steadily as we developed an edge in commercial accounting with specialised knowledge in construction, trades, hospitality and property. This led to our client base growing substantially and eventually it became clear we’d need a second office. In 2001, we set up a base in Christchurch.

Now, you can find us downtown in both Christchurch (at The Crossing) and Ashburton (on Burnett Street), or we’d be happy to come to you and visit your business headquarters.

In 2021, we opened LP Assist, a division of our business that specialises in bookkeeping and business software advisory, helping small and large businesses streamline their processes using modern technology.

We’re still proud Cantabrians and continue to serve our local clients, but we also support many clients nationwide. Our team is 52 strong, led by our dedicated management team, and we continue to grow.
