No Job Too Big, Too Small, Too Complicated or Too Gross
There’s nothing worse than broken plumbing. Luckily, BC Plumbers know exactly how to help. Offering a full range of installation and repair plumbing services, BC Plumbers have been the go-to plumbers for Canterbury for over 25 years. They are known for their friendly, can-do attitude and dedication to doing every job right the first time. Whether you’re a homeowner with a blocked toilet or a hotel looking to do a brand-new fitout, there is no job too big, too small, too complicated, or too gross for BC Plumbers to tackle.
Now under the leadership of Jordan Girdler and Dan Watt, the company continues to grow. They bought the business in 2018 and have made commercial new builds and maintenance a focus of the business.
For Jordan, it’s about meeting challenges and delivering quality solutions every time. “Whether it’s turning up and solving a problem for an individual who can’t do it themselves, or determining how to fit the pipes in amongst all the other elements needed for a new multi-storey build, problem solving is an important and fun part of our job,” Jordan explained.
Another important skill is the ability to cultivate long lasting relationships. Some of BC Plumbers’ clients have been with them for over twenty years. “Our clients come back to us because they know what we’re capable of, and they know we’ll get the job done on time and to a high standard,” Jordan said.
But running a high-quality plumbing business hasn’t always been easy. As with many hands-on businesses, BC Plumbers had a hard time facing the challenges of COVID-19. “One example: there was a hotel fit-out that kept getting pushed back,” Jordan said. “We were never sure when or if it would ever happen, but we couldn’t take on more work because we’d agreed to be available. But we had to keep paying overheads, which made it difficult financially.”
When facing tough times like this, it’s important to have an accountant that will do everything possible to help. Unfortunately, BC Plumbers’ previous accountant did little to ease their financial burdens. Naturally, Jordan and Dan started looking for a new accountant. “We wanted a proactive, hands-on accountant, someone who would be in our corner, and we have found that in James Nell,” Jordan said. “He wants the best outcomes for his clients. When we first came to him 18 months ago, he talked us through everything, helped us make a plan, and showed us light at the end of the tunnel.”
Leech & Partners now helps BC Plumbers with everything from GST returns to budget forecasting and financial strategy. “We have quarterly meetings with James where we discuss the state-of-play and how we can improve in real terms. It’s great to know we now have an accountant who has our back.”
